What is an Eldership Sunday?

This Sunday Stu will become our 4th Elder... This might puzzle some people - he's not [that] wrinkly yet and hasn't got [much] white hair, so how does Stu qualify to become an Elder?
1 Timothy 3 makes it clear that men should be appointed to care for God's church, and that they must fulfil certain criteria. An elder will look after his household/family well, be hospitable, able to teach, not controlled by money, and he should be well thought of by people outside the church. We believe that great leadership is a vital gift to the church and we have a high view of the role of Eldership. We look forward to praising and thanking God for giving us Stuart, Chloe and Rufus on Sunday!
